HOW WE RESEARCH

What the evidence says — and what it cannot say.

Adoption decisions are consequential. We keep source dates, definitions, and uncertainties visible even when they make a quick answer less convenient.

Editorial status

Official-source research conducted 1–2 November 2026. The site is published as a free information resource with internal source checks; it has not received independent specialist Italian adoption-law certification. Confirm procedures with the responsible authorities.

Five editorial principles

01

Primary evidence rather than assumptions

We use the Italian Ministry of Justice, Commission for Intercountry Adoptions (CAI), juvenile courts, Constitutional Court and Piedmont regional sources. Each guide links the primary material relevant to its claims.

02

Proceedings are not children

Domestic court declarations, CAI pending files, entry authorisations and individual children are different units. They cannot be turned into personal matching probabilities or a list of children available.

03

Dates and jurisdictions matter

A court-specific process is not universal. Our 2023–2025 tables are historical, not live placement or agency availability. Recheck court forms and national/country rules before filing.

04

Restrictions on CAI data reuse

CAI’s statistics page describes attribution and non-commercial reuse conditions. This is a free, non-commercial resource without ads, affiliate links or lead selling; any future commercial use of CAI reports would require appropriate clearance.

05

No fabricated promises

We do not show child profiles, sensitive case histories, guaranteed waiting times, invented testimonials or unverified current agency availability. Readers are directed to responsible authorities.

The primary documents

CAI data source and reuse conditions

Historical reports from the Commissione per le Adozioni Internazionali (CAI) are rearranged and cross-checked for this guide. Tables, translations and comparisons are independent adaptations: CAI does not endorse or sponsor this project. Reuse requires attribution, identification of changes and exclusively non-commercial purposes.

Updates and corrections

Court instructions and law can change between our updates. When a date, form or procedural description differs, follow the authority’s current document and seek clarification from the responsible office. This site has no applicant data-collection form.

This is an independent project, not a court, a CAI-affiliated organisation or an adoption agency. It does not offer legal advice or placement. Source reviews are carried out internally, not as independent specialist legal certification; always check the official authority before taking action. Data-controller information is available in the privacy notice.
