PRIMARY RECORD
Who is the responsible authority?
Dirección de Adopciones, Ministerio de la Mujer y Poblaciones Vulnerables (MIMP). The CAI country record describes roles, requirements and stages, but must be rechecked before a real application.
Hague Adoption Convention in force since 1996-01-01 according to the CAI country record.
Authorities and process
CAI identifies the Dirección de Adopciones within Peru’s MIMP as the adoption authority. Applicants resident in Italy still need the Italian authorised-organisation route, and must check the Peruvian documentation and applicable procedure before appointing an agency.
Eligibility and important caveats
CAI’s country information discusses adoption by single people. A positive indication of legal possibility is not automatic acceptance, and must be checked against Italian law and current operational circumstances.
What is distinctive about this country
Public tables may display completed and pending procedures and historic mean times for authorised organisations. These measures concern different case cohorts. Comparing two organisations without accounting for period, case mix and present mandate policy can be misleading.
A legal country profile does not prove an organisation is taking new families. Historical totals cannot predict individual waiting times or matching. Confirm with a competent authority and an authorised organisation.
Three questions to ask before proceeding
- Is the organisation operating and taking new Peruvian dossiers?
- Which local conditions have changed since the last CAI country note?
- Which expenses are included and which are paid directly by the family?
